Geometry with Flip Chip technology

Performance and quality

The TP4 is completely designed in Italy as are all models in the THOK range.
UD carbon fiber frame (travel: front 160mm / rear 150mm), Bosch Performance Line CX motor, modular 800 Wh battery, FOX Float Rhythm 36 fork, FOX Float Rhythm shock absorber, 29” wheels (mullet trim compatible) and use of Flip-Chip technology, which allows variation of seat tube and head tube angles, and consequently of the bike’s behavior, adapting it to different riding styles and terrains.
A boosted all-mountain that winks at enduro, created to conquer the most extreme climbs while maintaining the performance downhill attitude typical of the brand’s DNA.
The TP4 is a very versatile and value-for-money vehicle designed to enable everyone to equip themselves with a superior vehicle.

Available in two colors: FORGE RED, DRAGON GREEN.

NOMEN OMEN

TP4 stands for THOK Project Four and it is the name given to the project by the R&D department when it started this study. The TP4 is the world’s first carbon full-suspended e-bike for which 3D printing technology was used to create the first functional prototype.

EXCELLENT PERFORMANCES

The TP4, as well as all the bikes of the range, has been designed by Aldo Drudi’s D-Perf. The internationally renowned Italian designer was able to work the lines of the carbon fibre, enhancing the technical choices of the R&D department with exciting lines and profiles that are typical of the Italy style.

Sophisticated and exclusive

The materials used in production, the innovative technologies used in design, and the attention to craftsmanship in the creation of each and every bicycle make the TP4 a high quality bicycle.

Its history
Carbon UD
Its history
Carbon UD

The TP4 is the result of a dedicated project that required about one year and a half of research.

It’s the first e-bike in the world made using 3D metal printing (Selective Laser Melting – SLM) to create a functional full-suspended aluminium e-MTB model.

Thanks to SLM technology, it was possible to produce a rideable and functional prototype immediately, allowing the testing of geometry, suspension and component integration by skipping the various stages of standard prototyping.

Studying the first prototype in aluminium enabled THOK to choose the range’s type of production material, assess the geometries’ efficiency and work on innovative technical solutions. Today’s TP4 is the result of the evolution of the first prototype and it also features solutions that are in some cases very different from the initial ones.

The frame of the TP4 is hand-rolled carbon.
The unidirectional arrangement of carbon fibers (Carbon UD) allows them to be excluded in areas where they are not needed because they are not used. Which means: greater thickness at the points of maximum stress, less thickness where it is not needed.
This ensures TP4 absolute strength for extreme all-mountain use, light weight and riding comfort.

two geometries in one

The TP4 is very cross-cutting and modern in terms of use: its versatile geometry makes it both an all-mountain and an enduro bike.

The Flip Chip system allows riders to change its steering angle, the seat tube angle and lower the central movement, making it a fun adventure companion on downhill trails, including very uneven ones, and suited for different types of terrains and riding styles.

The TP4’s seat tube has been verticalised at 79°, which makes the TP4 an excellent climber. The rider’s weight is in the ideal position to provide traction while ensuring the best possible pedalling efficiency, preventing the bike from wheelies even on the most extreme climbs. It has a 64.5° steering angle, the TP4 too, like the rest of the THOK range, maintains a downhill-style DNA like the rest of the range.

The Flip Chip system allows the head angle, seat tube angle and bottom bracket to be modified (with a simple Allen key) to better adapt the bike’s geometry to the rider’s needs. There are two types of adjustment: High and Low. In the High position the saddle and headset angles correspond to those indicated (79°; 64.5°). With this setting the bike has a more all-mountain use, ideal for long adventures even on very demanding trails both uphill and downhill. In the Low position, the lowering of the bottom bracket is concomitant with the opening of the seat and headset angles by half a degree. The bike takes on a more enduro character, devoted mainly to downhill fun.

The back end has lowered seatstays with an asymmetric rectangular structure with integrated cables. It guarantees rigidity, maximum traction uphill, extreme responsiveness downhill.

The TPS2 is the well-tested suspension system designed by THOK E-Bikes that optimises the kinematics of the bike. The excursion of the rear wheel is extremely progressive, it absorbs every type of obstacle downhill and guarantees maximum traction uphill. The aluminium rocker with symmetrical bearings helps eliminate bending. The TPS-2 features polygonal section seat-stays and one-piece asymmetrical chain stay.

They guarantee smoothness, traction and shock absorption in the most demanding sections. They are equipped with DT Swiss rims and Schwalbe Albert Gravity Pro tyres. The latter are designed for all-round enduro, e-MTB and DH use, and feature an innovative radial construction that increases their deformation capacity in reaction to uneven terrain, and thus their grip. These tyres were developed with the heavy stimulation typical of e-bikes in mind and can safely support even bikers weighing over 100 kg. Thanks to Flip Chip technology, the system is compatible with mullet setup.

Bosch Performance Line CX (BDU384Y)

Bosch Performance Line CX (BDU384Y)

This is the 5th generation of the Bosch drive units, featuring:

  • weight of only 2.8 kg
  • 85 Nm max torque, peak of 600-Watt motor power
  • smoothness of delivery and predictability of response
  • up to 340% pedalling amplification
  • maximum silence
  • 1.6-inch Purion 200 colour LCD display
  • six-dimensional inertial sensor to recognise unevenness and slope of terrain
  • Walk Mode: with integrated hill-hold function
Modular 800 Wh battery

Modular 800 Wh battery

The TP4 is available with an integrated 800 Wh battery housed inside the down tube.

The system is compatible with 600 Wh and 400Wh batteries thanks to the “slide battery” system, the inner carbon battery cradle designed to enhance the seat tube and store the batteries with lower capacities by placing them downward, close to the motor, to secure the low centre of gravity that is typical of the range.

It is possible to purchase the TP4 with a 400Wh or 600Wh battery. In this case, the biker chooses a lower autonomy in return of weight saving.

The system (equipped with any battery capacity) is also compatible with the addition of ‘PowerMore’, the plug & play 250 Wh range extender from Bosch.

There are no limits to the possible battery capacity combinations: the TP4 meets the needs of every rider.

WEIGHTS:

  • 800Wh battery → 24,3 kg
  • 600Wh battery → 23,2 kg
  • 400Wh battery → 22,1 kg

Integrated in the headset. It prevents the ripping of cables and damage to the frame in the event of extra rotations of the handlebar.

The “Universal Derailleur Hanger” is the derailleur hanger that is compatible with all the transmission systems on the market. Easy to maintain and find, it protects the transmission’s integrity, improves gearshift performance and prevents the chain from getting stuck between frame and cassette.

Dropout with brake calliper mounting directly on the frame (without having to use adapters) for increased braking power and efficiency.

The TP4 has very low standover, which is why sizes L and XL mount 200 mm telescopic seatposts.

The battery cover is easily removable thanks to the quick-remove system.
